The bullring was excavated on Sandhill, Newcastle upon Tyne, in 1821. The sport of bull baiting was banned in 1835 and last took place in Newcastle in 1768. This photograph was published on page 9 of 'Played in Tyne & Wear' by Lynn Pearson.
