Football has been played at St James' Park since 1880, and the stadium has been home to Newcastle United Football Club since 1892. The stadium was renovated, developed and enlarged in the late 20th and early 21st centuries. The East Stand was built in 1973. This photograph was published on page 49 of 'Played in Tyne & Wear' by Lynn Pearson.
