Description

The Sunderland Greyhound Stadium opened in 1940. By the 1960s it had lost its license and operated as an unlicensed racetrack, also hosting speedway races. Greyhound racing resumed at the stadium in the 1990s and in 2010 it was one of only 25 licensed tracks operating in Britain. This photograph was published on page 123 of 'Played in Tyne & Wear' by Lynn Pearson.
