Description

Middlesbrough Football Club moved to Ayresome Park in 1903. The stadium was designed by Archibald Leitch with the Clyde Structural Iron Company, Glasgow. The Holgate End and South Stand were built in 1937. The stadium was demolished in around 1997 and the site was redeveloped for housing. This photograph was published on page 195 of 'Engineering Archie: Archibald Leitch - football ground designer' by Simon Inglis. This image was scanned from an undated 35mm transparency.
