Description

Paddington Central Baths opened in June 1925, and in 1929 an adjoining block was opened. The additional block housed Porchester Hall, a public hall, and a library and Turkish and Russian baths. The building was later known as the Porchester Centre, and many of the original facilities and fittings remain in use and are relatively unaltered. The building is Grade II* listed. This photograph was published on page 187 of 'Great Lengths: The historic indoor swimming pools of Britain' by Dr Ian Gordon and Simon Inglis.
