Description

Putney Pool, later Putney Leisure Centre, was opened in March 1968. The complex is formed of linked blocks, housing function and meeting rooms, teaching pool, plant boilers, and the main pool and gallery. The main L-shaped pool incorporates a diving area and is thought to have been the first of several of this type to be built during the 1960s. The arrangement was cheaper than constructing a separate diving pool, and allowed diving to take place while the main pool area was in use.
