Description

The west front is comprised of a three storey gatehouse in the centre, flanked by two storey wings either side. The bridge walls are embattled parapets lined with octagonal shafts with shield-bearing mythical beasts. The gatehouse arch pushes into the first floor and has a large oriel window on the second floor with a panel underneath with King Henry VIII's arms. On either side of the arch are slim octagonal turrets with ogee tops, single bays with a window on all three floors, and larger octagonal turrets on the outer ends of the gatehouse.
