Description

The image shows Akenside House on the left, a five storey office building with attics dated 1902. The ground floor is polished dark granite, whilst the upper floors are sandstone ashlar. The central five bays bow gently into a convex shape, and the outer two bays have deeply canted windows on the first to third floors. On the rof is a central octagonal cupola with dome roof, and over the end bays are oeuil-de-boeuf windows, or small oval windows. To the right is the smaller no. 3, which has three bays and three storeys with attics, and dates to c1880. The outer bays have doors, and the large central window had a segmental arch over. Further right is a partial view of a third building, which has since been removed.
