Description

The terrace was built between 1819 and 1820, and was the first building to be constructed by Richard Grainger in Newcastle. They were built for William Baston of Higham Dykes, and consists of three houses with three storeys and attics and two bays each. The doors are on the right side of the houses, and have a fanlight above with open pediment. All of the windows have wedge lintels, and a continuous string below the ground floor windows and two strings between the ground and first floor, which is where the sign for the gallery annexe was installed on no. 8.
