Description

Twenty-seven survey sheets created in June 1987 by Plowman Craven and Associates for Central Survey DCES at the Department of the Environment, showing Castlerigg Stone Circle and the surrounding area. The series consists of two sets of sheets, a total of twenty-five topographic survey sheets and two sheet of rectified photography.

The topographic survey sheets are at three different scales; the original nine sheets are at 1:100 scale, with subsequent photographic reductions resulting in four sheets at 1:200 scale and one sheet at 1:500 scale.

The sheet of rectified photography shows internal and external elevations of the thirty-eight stones, some smaller directional views and a plan of the circle.
