Fifty-two sheets of maps, survey drawings and rectified photographs of Castlerigg Stone Circle, created by or on behalf of English Heritage's predecessor bodies for the interpretation, management and maintenance of the site. The sheets date from the early twentieth century through to the mid-1980s, with the majority originating from surveys carried out in the 1980s.
There is a group of eight sheets created in January 1986 by an unknown organisation, consisting of preliminary drawings and final road plans and contour plans of the stone circle.
There are a number of survey sheets created by Plowman Craven and Associates on behalf of the Department of the Environment in June 1987, including working drawings, topographic survey sheets at 1:100, and reduced photographic copies of these originals at 1:200 and 1:500 scales. This group also includes rectified photographic elevations of the stone circle.
The series includes five oversized drawings.
