Description

This group of drawings was created by S T Walker and Partners during phases one and two of major repair works at the site during 1985 and 1986. The series includes seven photocopies of plans and elevations of the castle buildings, created in phase one of the repair works. There are then nine copies of detailed plans of the ground, first and second floors of the castle buildings, showing areas for planned repairs during phase two of the works, accompanied by seven sheets of detailed elevations of the south tower, Great Hall, north tower and curtain wall, again with indicated areas for planned repairs during phase two of the works.

The series also includes sixteen small sheets of design drawings for various structural repairs or replaced architectural elements, and two detailed construction drawings concerning the construction of a new footbridge and handrail between the south tower and solar wing.

Finally, there are three location maps showing the layout of View Edge Quarry, now disused, which is located approximately 0.8 miles southwest of Stokesay Castle, and from where stone was to be quarried to be used in the repair of stonework at the castle.
