Description

165 sheets relating to Stokesay Castle, ranging in date from November 1959 through to the early years of the twenty-first century. The sheets include maps, plans, sections, elevations and details of the site. There are a large number of sheets relating to repair works carried out at the site during the mid to late 1980s. This includes surveys of timberwork on the north tower, roof timberwork from the solar wing, Great Hall and north and south towers, as well as forty-eight drawings created by S T Walker and Partners concerning planned repairs and details of construction during phases one and two of the works.

There is also a series of fifteen photogrammetric elevations of castle buildings created by the Photogrammetric Unit at the Institute for Advanced Architectural Studies at the University of York between March and June 1984, with a set of nine photogrammetrically-derived horizontal and vertical cross-sections created by the same team at the same time.

There is a series of twelve detailed section drawings taken through the north tower, facing north, south east and west, created between Oct 1990 and Dec 2006 by the HBMCE and RPS Survey Services.

Other drawings in the series include floor plans of the castle buildings, plans indicating the layout of electrical services to be installed, and drawings concerning a new footbridge between the south tower and solar wing.
