- Series Containing Photographic Material
A series of 162 negatives, of which 146 are glass-plate and 16 are film, from the archive of the London Midland and Scottish Railway company, formed in 1922. The glass-plate negatives are in three different sizes. The images are predominantly views of sites in Belgium, Ireland, Scotland and Wales, although there are also a number of unidentified sites which may be within England.
Some of the negatives are dated and some retain the original number which corresponds to an entry in one of the registers for this collection (LMS01/03).
Many of the dated photographs were taken prior to the formation of the London Midland and Scottish Railway company, but, as in most cases it is not clear which of the constituent railway companies took the photographs, and for ease of searching, London Midland and Scottish Railway is recorded as the photographer.
