The series comprises a portfolio of photographs and papers relating to Appuldurcombe House, Isle of Wight dated from 1932 to 1957.
The portfolio contains: a historical survey of the house by R. Fielding Dodd FRIBA, 1932 (containing a footnote by Queen Mary on p.5 identified by H. Clifford-Smith, 1946); a ground floor plan by Fielding Dodd; a single page description of the house by R. Gilyard-Bere IAME, 1957; a photographic copy of a 1690 sketch showing Tudor house (demolished in c.1710); a photograph taken by Bedford Lemere of Croydon showing details of a fireplace removed to Fulham Palace; an engraving of the 1720 house is by George Brannon 1825; a coloured estate map of 1930 from sales particulars; and provenance notes including hand written notes attributed to Queen Mary.
The portfolio was acquired by the NMR in 2007.
