Description

The collection consists of a folder containing six files created by the Ministry of Works Directorate of Works (Engineering Division) which relate to the Coronation of Queen Elizabeth II in 1953. J. A. Mudd was the senior draftsman and the files include official written records detailing costs relating to the event, correspondence, a handlist of drawings, floodlighting commissions, and a Coronation Telephone Exchange telephone booklet [not for publication]. Also included are measured drawings showing locations of public address system, catering facilities, and telephones. Files included:

1) M & E Engineering Services “The Coronation of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II 2nd June 1953 – contains a report and plans 2) “Coronation 1953: General” – contains notes on costing and lighting details 3) “Coronation Processional Route: Whitehall & Parliament Square” – contains notes on lighting 4) “Westminster Abbey Coronation E.II” – contains notes of electrical services to be installed in the abbey 5) “Coronation Processional Route: The Mall” – contains notes in costing and lighting 6) “Coronation Processional Route: Hyde Park & Piccadilly” – contains a plan and notes of lighting and power
