A series of 42 assorted items, primarily cuttings of halftone prints, from a variety of sources. The majority of publications from which the items were sourced are unknown but the named newspapers and periodicals include: The Illustrated London News and Country Life. All the items were sorted into envelopes by site and the envelopes were labelled 'Ready for Architectural Diary' with a date.
Most of the prints are mounted although there are, additionally, a small number of un-mounted cuttings, a selection of loose pages removed from books or pamplets, and one souvenir leaflet from 1945. On many of the items, either on the front or back, P E W Street has recorded the date of purchase or publication, location and, occasionally, other additional information.
The images show a variety of locations, largely but not exclusively in East Sussex. In East Sussex sites include Herstmonceux Castle, Battle Abbey School, the parish churches of Jevington, East Dean and Friston, and the Lamb Inn at Eastbourne. Outside of East Sussex the sites include St Nicholas’ Church and The Centre in Bristol, St James’ Church and The Magdalen Chapel in Bath, Well Hall in Eltham and St Nectan’s Church in the parish of Hartland, Devon.
Additionally there is one image of a room filled with machinery associated with the Molins Machine Company at an unidentified location.
