The series is divided into subjects with negatives and each subject is allocated a letter prefix. The subjects and their letter codes appear to be: ancient monuments (A); threatened building (B); ceremonies (C); diplomatic and embassies (D); exhibitions (E); floodlighting (F); general (G); housing (H); construction (J); utilities (M); personal (P); parks (R); supplies (S); transport (T); models & plans (Y); and Social (Z).
The 'G' subject negatives are the largest category and was catalogued in the 1990s.
The 'A' subject negatives is the second largest category and contains most of the images in this series of ancient monuments that are now or have been English Heritage properties. Photographs produced from these negatives are available in the Blue Albums and Blue Folders (OWS01/01).
The series was transferred to The English Heritage Archive in 1999 from the English Heritage Photographic Library.
