Description
The collection contains an estimated 1311 files containing lists of buildings of special architectural or historic interest.
It contains provisional lists, statutory lists, amendments and spot lists compiled mainly between 1947 and 1976. It contains the earliest copies of lists held by the NMR and many of the lists have the names of the staff responsible for listing handwritten on them. It is not complete, particularly for rural districts, and overlaps with another collection of lists held by the NMR (PVL01/01) which has poorer representation of urban districts.
The files are stored in a random order. A handlist which narrows the storage location of lists in the collection to one of two or three boxes is available. The list has been found to contain errors and is not a complete or accurate list of the contents of this series.
Archival History
The collection was given to the NMR by the Department of Culture Media and Sport before 2004.
