The Royal Commission on the Historical Monuments of England published a volume in 1970 entitled 'An Inventory of the Historical Monuments in Dorset, Volume II, South-East'. This volume covered the whole of the historic county of Westmorland, including the towns of Kendal and Appleby. Westmorland is now the southern part of Cumbria. south-eastern part of the county, including Corfe Castle, Dorchester, and Poole.
This set of material comprises handwritten notes with accompanying sketches and photographs, small and large format negatives, measured drawings and other material that was created by the RCHME in the course of their investigations, and form an extensive resource for the study of historic buildings and monuments in the area.
