Description
The Royal Commission on the Historical Monuments of England published a volume in 1916 entitled 'An Inventory of the Historical Monuments in Essex, Volume I, North-West'. This volume covered the north-west part of the county, including the towns of Thaxted and Saffron Walden, and Audley End House.
This set of material comprises handwritten notes with accompanying sketches and photographs, small and large format negatives, that were created by the RCHME in the course of their investigations, and form an extensive resource for the study of historic buildings and monuments in the area.
