Description

A series of six mounted albumen prints from the 1880s or early 1890s, five of which show properties on St Nicholas Street, Ipswich. With the exception of a general view looking north along the road (VIC01/01/01), the views are of an L-shaped building and timber yard on the west side of St Nicholas Street which were demolished sometime before the construction of Cromwell Street (now Cromwell Square).

The sixth print shows the exterior of the Bramford Road School (now a theatre and the Suffolk Record Office) not long after its construction.

Mr William Vick, an Ipswich photographer, is identified on two of the prints. As all six photographs appear stylistically similar and are of the same date, the other four images are attributed to him as well.
