Description

In September 2003 two serious fires occurred on Fylingdales Moor which resulted in almost total destruction of the ground vegetation in both areas. On 3rd October 2003 English Heritage flew both areas producing a series of colour oblique photographs, a number of which were rectified. The subsequent report represents a rapid assessment of the photographs with the view to assisting the formulation of a post-fire strategy for the recording of the archaeological remains and the re-establishment of vegetation on the moorland.
