Between November 2002 and April 2003 English Heritage staff from the Exeter office carried out a field survey and analysis of the earthworks of Okehampton Castle and Park at the request of the Dartmoor National Park Authority. The investigation focussed initially on the former deerpark with the intention of creating a monument baseline condition survey. However the project was expanded to include the hitherto neglected earthworks surrounding the castle, integrating previous investigations by RCHME and EH.
