Description

The Ackling Dyke formed part of the Roman road system in Britain. In 2004, the English Heritage Exeter Archaeological Investigation Team investigated and surveyed a 1.75 km length of Ackling Dyke which runs through Puddletown Forest, about 4km north east of the Roman town of Dorchester. The survey was undertaken at the request of the English Heritage Inspector of Ancient Monuments with cooperation of the Forestry Commission, English Nature and the landowners.
