Description

Between early October and mid November 2001, English Heritage carried out an archaeological investigation of Ring Chesters, an Iron Age hillfort in Northumberland, together with an extensive area of the historic landscape surrounding it. The analytical field survey was one of a number undertaken by English Heritage as part of the Northumberland National Park Authority's project entitled 'Discovering our hillfort heritage'. The Investigation was intended to further the understanding of the hillfort, both as an individual monument and as an example of the class as a whole, and to inform conservation and management of the site.
