Description

Merrivale is one of three former English Heritage 'Properties in Care' whose management responsibilities were transferred to the Dartmoor National Park Authority (DNPA) in 1993, the others being Grimspound and Houndtor. The revision and partial resurvey of this Guardianship Area is the result of a long standing partnership between the RCHME, the DNPA and EH under which all three holdings have been reinvestigated and the subject of a large scale survey.
