Description

An album of 50 pages containing 105 archive items. The contents are mixed, consisting of photographs, postcards, cuttings (textual and illustrations), engravings and prints. There are a large number of extracts showing illustrations from Avelings history of Roche Abbey.

The majority of the items refer to Kirkstall or Roche Abbey (Kirkstall is towards the front and Roche the rear). There are also 2 items from Salley Abbey and one each from Beauchief Abbey and Monk Bretton Priory. All these religious houses are in Yorkshire or Lancashire.

The suggested dates for the items cover the range 1723 - 1969 with a large number dating from the nineteenth century
