Description

Album number 40 in Bedford Lemere's scheme containing photographs of the interiors of a wide range of buildings including: country and town houses, hotels, restaurants, shops, liners, banks, an institute, a technical college, a shopping arcade, a water pumping station, Turkish baths and tram works. The locations are national in scope, including Scotland, with a large number from the West Midlands and North West. There is a set of 12 photographs commissioned by the Well Fire Company showing fireplaces in situ in houses and a hotel and a set of 7 prints showing the Hotel Metropole in Blackpool but otherwise there are no large sets.

The album contains 100 pages which hold 86 prints. The prints are cross-referenced to original and copy negatives where possible.

The album is unusual in not have captions on the pages and the pages were not originally numbered. The majority of the negatives for these prints appear to have been destroyed.

On page 61 a photographer and camera is shown in the background and on page 63 Bedford Lemere Senior is seen sat at a table.
