An album of 86 pages containing prints showing the castle and renovations undertaken soon after it came into guardianship in 1910.
Many of the photographs are undated and the original number sequence is not indicative of date. However rough dates have been assigned based on the period of work and also information given in the Conservation Plan (see bibliographic reference). None appear to be later than 1930.
There are several early aerial views in the front of the album.
The views of renovations include many showing the south and east curtain walls, the Cockpit, the Fallen Tower and the Barbican.
The different named areas are given separate locations but these are only used if the photograph exclusively shows that structure so there are other views that include the named locations and other structure which are under the general 'Richmond Castle' location.
Some of the captions state the photographer and in these cases they have been acknowledged in the roles tab and reproduction rights only assumed. Otherwise the prints are assumed to have been made for the Ministry of Works and therefore be Crown Copyright.
This is part of the Series: OWS01/01 The 'Blue Albums'; within the Collection: OWS01 Office of Works and Successors: Ancient Monuments and Historic Buildings
