Description

Northwoods was built in around 1832-1835 as ‘Northwoods Asylum’. It primarily provided care for privately-funded patients and was entirely selective from 1903. The hospital closed with the formation of the NHS in 1948. The building was later converted into private dwellings known as Northwoods House and Matford House (now detached, these originally formed the end pavilion to the main house), and Herridge House, Sherbourne House, Seymour House and Calebs House.
