In 2004/5 the Architectural History Practice was commissioned by Sarah Brown, Head of Research Policy for Places of Worship at English Heritage, to produce a desk-based study of the survival of those churches financed wholly or in part by the Church Building Commissioners in the first half of the nineteenth century. The results of the AHP study were delivered to English Heritage in the form of a searchable computerised database. In September 2005 a second phase of work was commissioned consisting of a fieldwork programme providing individual site reports with photographs, together with a summary report on the present state of the buildings as a whole. The archive consists of 4 digital text documents: the summary report, first grant churches in London, first grant churches outside London, and all second grant churches in London.
