Description

A file of material created by English Heritage's Scientific Dating Team, consisting of notes, reports and documentation relating to the radiocarbon dating of the proposed site for a second carriageway of the A66 road. The file covers a 7km section between Bowes on the east, and Rey Cross, on the summit of the Stainmore Pass. It encompasses various Roman monuments, including the earthworks at Rey Cross and the Signal Station on Bowes Moor. The file also contains information relating to the nature of early settlement and land use in the Pennine uplands.
