Description

A file of material created by the English Heritage Scientific Dating Team containing notes, correspondence, radiocarbon dating certificates, sample descriptions and evironmental sampling sheets relating to the post-Roman settlement at Bantham Ham. The file describes the samples (animal bone and charcoal) as being taken from a heart of supposed post-Roman date. The site has a long period of occupation and has examples of finds from the Roman period into the sixth century A.D, as well as Medieval lynchets within the hillslope to the north of the current car park.
