Description

A file of material created by the English Heritage Scientific Dating Team containing correspondence and dendrochronology application forms relating to the dating of a series of paintings from Audley End House which were undergoing conservation work. The paintings were oil on an oak panel and dendrochronology was used to date the oak panel. There are no results of the dating within this file. The paintings included in the file are "The Money Lenders" or "Two Excisemen", Margaret Audley by Hans Eworth, Sir Thomas Audley and Lady Elizabeth Audley both by Adriaen Thomas Key, Coastal Scene with Sailing Ships by Isaac Willaerts, Frances Howard by Robert Peake, Thomas Cornwallis by George Gower and King James I by an Unknown Painter.
