Description

A virtual file of 15 photographs relating to Chesterfield Football Club. The club was initially formed as Chesterfield Town Football Club in 1866 or 1867. The club was reformed in 1918 or 1919 as Chesterfield Municipal Football Club, later known as Chesterfield Football Club. The club played at the Recreation Ground (also known as Saltergate) since perhaps the 1870s, until 2010. Chesterfield then relocated to the newly built SMH Group Stadium in Whittington Moor. The site of the Recreation Ground was redeveloped as housing known as Spire Heights.
