Description

A virtual file of 18 photographs relating to Doncaster Rovers Football Club. The club was founded in 1879 and initially played at various fields in the Belle Vue and Racecourse area of Doncaster. They settled at the Intake Ground in 1885 and remained there until around 1916; the ground was used by the military during the First World War. The football club was reformed in around 1919 or 1920 and moved to Bennetthorpe for two seasons. In 1922 Doncaster Rovers moved to Low Pastures at Belle View: the new ground was opened in 1922 and was named Belle Vue. It was the club's home ground until 2006. In December 2006 a new stadium was completed by Doncaster Metropolitan Borough Council. Doncaster Rovers moved to the new Keepmoat Stadium in 2007. It was named the Eco-Power Stadium in 2021.
