Description

A virtual file of 27 photographs relating to Everton Football Club. The club was founded in 1878 as St Domingo's Football Club, and was renamed Everton in 1879. The club first played at Stanley Park, and in 1884 moved to Anfield where they remained until 1892. In that year, Everton acquired a site at Mere Green, to the north-west of Stanley Park. They subsequently built a football ground on the site, and soon changed the name from Mere Green to Goodison Park. It was opened on 24 August 1892. The club moved to Everton Stadium (known as Hill Dickinson Stadium due to sponsorship) in 2025. Goodison Park remained the home ground of Everton women's football club (Everton Women).
