Description

A virtual file of 48 photographs relating to Leicester City Football Club. The club was founded in 1884, as Leicester Fosse. In 1885 the club was based at Victoria Park and also played briefly at the Belgrave Road Cycle Track. They laid out a new ground at Mill Lane in 1889, before moving to Filbert Street in 1891. In 1919, Leicester Fosse became Leicester City. They remained at Filbert Street until 2002. At the start of the 2002-03 season, the club moved to the newly built Walkers Stadium (later known as the King Power Stadium). The site at Filbert Street was partially redeveloped as Lineker Road and Filbert Village student accommodation.
