Description

A virtual file of 44 photographs relating to Sunderland AFC, formed in 1879. The images taken in 1982, 1992 and 1996 show Roker Park, their former home ground between 1898 to 1997. Roker Park was opened in 1898 and originally had wooden stands. Archibald Leitch designed the Main Stand (1929) and the Clock Stand (1936). The stadium was demolished in 1997-1998 and the site was redeveloped for housing.
