Description

A file containing 14 photographs depicting the F W Woolworth and Co store in Ashton-under-Lyne. Known as Woolworths store number 264, this was the two-hundred and sixty-fourth branch of Woolworths to open in the British Isles, in 1927. The store originally opened at 173 Stamford Street but moved in the 1960s to a purpose-built store at 55 Warrington Street. The store closed in 1994 and Woolworths opened store 1190 in The Arcade, Katherine Street.
