Description

A file containing 12 photographs depicting the F W Woolworth and Co store in Shrewsbury. Known as Woolworths store number 312, this was the three-hundred and twelfth branch of Woolworths to open in the British Isles, in 1928. The store originally opened at 20-22 Pride Hill. In the early 1960s Woolworths acquired the Raven Hotel on Castle Street. The hotel was demolished and a purpose-built Woolworths store opened in 1964 at 11 Castle Street. In 1984 the store was extended and renumbered as store 1143.
