Description

A file containing 50 photographs depicting the F W Woolworth and Co store in Bootle. Known as Woolworths store number 386, this was the three-hundred and eighty-sixth branch of Woolworths to open in the British Isles, in 1930. The original store on Stanley Road was demolished in the mid 1960s and the site was redeveloped as part of the New Strand shopping precinct, later the Strand Shopping Centre. Woolworths moved into 55-58 New Strand Shopping Precinct, with a main entrance on Medway and a rear entrance on Parkside. The store closed in December 2008.
