Description

A file containing 8 photographs depicting the F W Woolworth and Co store on Sherrard Street, Melton Mowbray. Known as Woolworths store number 490, this was the four-hundred and ninetieth branch of Woolworths to open in the British Isles, in 1933. Woolworths originally opened at 3 Sherrard Street and was extended in 1955 to 1-3 Sherrard Street. The store was split in two, probably in the 1980s, with Woolworths returning to occupy the unit at 3 Sherrard Street.
