Description

A file containing 21 photographs depicting the F W Woolworth and Co store on Kilmarnock Road, Shawlands, Glasgow. Known as Woolworths store number 665, this was the six-hundred and sixty-fifth branch of Woolworths to open in the British Isles, in 1936. The store originally opened at 61 Kilmarnock Road. In the 1960s, Woolworths moved to 82-88 Kilmarnock Road, part of the newly-built Shawlands Arcade. The store was reduced in size in the 1980s when part of the premises became a Superdrug store. The Woolworths store closed in January 2009.
