A file containing 3 photographs depicting the F W Woolworth and Co store on Eastgate Street, Gloucester. Known as Woolworths store number 837, this was the eight-hundred and thirty-seventh branch of Woolworths to open in the British Isles, in 1954. This was the second Woolworths store to open in Gloucester; the first was store number 125 on Westgate Street. Store number 837 originally opened at 14-24 Eastgate Street but by 1972 had moved to 12-18 Eastgate Street, the site of the original Eastgate Market. The entrance portico of the market was removed and rebuilt at the entrance of Eastgate Shopping Centre, between 22 and 24 Eastgate Street.
