Description

Six reconstruction drawings depicting Boxgrove Man, the Boxgrove Prehistoric Landscape and the fauna thought to have flourished there, produced for reproduction in site guidebooks and other publications.

The reconstructions are based on the discovery of 'Boxgrove Man' an early hominid whose remains were excavated at the Boxgrove Quarry, also known as Eartham Pit, near Boxgrove in West Sussex. The quarry also yielded the remains of prehistoric animals, dating from around 500,000 years BP.

The illustrations in this group include two reconstructions of Boxgrove Man, two reconstructions of animals whose remains were found at the site, and two reconstructions showing hominids hunting in the Boxgrove Prehistoric Landscape.

There are also ten black and white preliminary sketches and some additional backup material, created by Peter Dunn. These have not been catalogued at item level.
