136 reconstruction illustrations and 18 general illustrations depicting Hadrian's Wall, and its milecastles and turrets, related forts, temples, bridges and finds. The illustrations date from between 1956 and 2020, and were created for reproduction in site guidebooks, on-site interpretation and in other publications, by a large number of different illustrators including Philip Corke, FJH Gardiner, Alan Sorrell, Richard Sorrell, Andrew Ingamells, Peter Dunn, Terry Ball, Liam Wales, Peter Connelly, John Ronayne, Nick Hardcastle, Mike Legg and Ivan Lapper.
The major forts along the wall depicted include: Housesteads Roman Fort, Chesters Roman Fort, Wallsend Roman Fort, Benwell Roman Fort, and Birdoswald Roman Fort. Milecastles depicted include: Poltross Burn Milecastle, Winshields Milecastle, Cawfields Milecastle, Grindon Milecastle, Sewingshields Milecastle, and Harrows Scar Milecastle. Turrets depicted include: Banks East Turret, Grindon Turret, Walltown Craggs Turret, Leahill Turret, Willowford West Turret, Willowford East Turret, Piper Sike Turret, Sewingshields Turret, Coesike Turret, Piper Sike Turret, Black Carts Turret, Denton Hall Turret, and Brunton Turret. Pike Hill Signal Tower is also shown. There are a number of reconstructions depicting Corbridge Roman Town and Bridge. There are various reconstructed views along the course of Hadrian's Wall, including at Windshield Craggs and Walltown Craggs. Also included are illustrations reconstructing Chesters Bridge, Willowford Bridge, Knag Burn Gateway, Benwell Vallum Crossing, Bewnwell Roman Temple and Carrawburgh Mithraeum.
There are also seven black and white preliminary sketches and some additional backup material, created by Peter Dunn, and relating to Wallsend Roman Fort. These have not been catalogued at item level.
