Nine reconstruction illustrations and two orientation illustrations depicting Helmsley Castle and its component structures, created for site interpretation and reproduction in site guidebooks between 1963 and 2016.
The set includes an early reconstruction of the site by Alan Sorrell dating from 1963 and two reconstructions by Peter Dunn from 2004 taking the same viewpoint. Dunn also created a present-day orientation view from the same viewpoint in the same year. There are a further seven reconstruction illustrations by Philip Corke, also created in 2004 for the site guidebook and depicting various interior and exterior views of buildings at the castle, and two born-digital reconstructions by Peter Urmaston created in 2017.
There is also one black and white preliminary sketch, created by Peter Dunn. This has not been catalogued at item level.
In addition there fourteen phased reconstruction illustrations of a longhouse by Allan T Adams, as well as maps showing the development of the settlement of Helmsley and an orientation illustration which were produced between 2004 and 2006 which were all produced for the exhibition 'Revealing Helmsley'.
