Description

Sixteen reconstruction illustrations and two general illustrations depicting Pickering Castle in North Yorkshire, and its component structures, throughout its history. The illustrations were created between circa 1990 and circa 2005 by three different illustrators, one of which remains unidentified The majority of the illustrations were created by the illustrator Ivan Lapper, and include three phased aerial reconstructions of the entire site as well as numerous scenes of buildings and everyday life at the castle throughout the twelfth to fourteenth centuries.

There is one aerial view of the site in the present day, created by Terry Ball in 1993 for inclusion in the English Heritage guidebook for the site that was published in the same year.

There are a further six reconstructions created by an unidentified illustrator, depicting scenes and activities from the castle between the twelfth and fourteenth centuries.
